Sifting through your bookshelf for the perfect book to read this summer? Look no further! These are my favorite summer reads that you are sure to enjoy, whether you are on the beach or kicking back on the front porch.
Ruined by Amy Tintera

This novel by Amy Tintera is one of my absolute favorites. The book is about a girl named Em who is bent on the revenge of the monarchy that stole her family from her. What she finds instead is love and life in her broken body. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is searching for an adventure within seconds of an opened cover.
Sunny Side Up by Jennifer L. Holm and Matthew Holm

Want to read, but you just don't have any time? This simple graphic novel will have you hooked from the very beginning, and it's easy to read. Raina Telgemeier, author of Smile, describes it as "Heartbreaking and hopeful, this book is just the thing to chase away the clouds." I would be lying if I said I didn't agree with her whole heartily.
How I Nicky Flynn Finally Get A Life (And A Dog) by Art Corriveau

Calling all dog lovers! If love dogs, then this book is for you. Engaging characters carve the path to an epic story line, filled with little details for the investigators out there. A cross between mystery and tragedy, the novel is an amazing play on the life we don't normally like to think about. This book shows you what friends are truly for.
The Mighty Miss Malone by Christopher Paul Cutis

Come and get out of your comfort zone with this intriguing novel about the Great Depression, taken right from the history books. Even though it is a work of fiction, The Mighty Miss Malone still shows one of the greatest downs of America. and tells a wonderful story of perseverance and hard times.
Buddy by M. H. Herlong

Heart wrenching and heartwarming, this book left me loving it while also content with every last page. Too often we don't like the ending of a book or we are thirsting for more, but that is not the case with Buddy. Although the ending did surprise me, I felt as though it did not make me want to know more, which is good because there is no sequel. I rather enjoyed this book and will recommend it to anyone looking for a good read.
