The Book Was Better

Everyone knows the war between books and their movie adaptions. Which was better? The book or the movie? In this post I will be telling my opinion on three book/movie adaptions.

Twilight. I get that this is a sappy teenage love story or whatever, and part of me totally agrees with that, but earlier this year my friend, a fellow blogger on this site, convinced me to read it. I finished within a week, I totally loved the story. So naturally I watched the movies as soon as I could. Well, all I can say is that the first movie was a little disappointing, as well as the last. I had high expectations for the movies given how much I enjoyed the books, and the only one I really liked and I think met the full expectation I had was Eclipse.

Harry Potter. Still one of my favorite books of all time, the Harry Potter books were totally better than the movies. When I was reading this book (it was my first fantasy), I had a little trouble comprehending the whole magic part and Hagrid, but as soon as the movie and myself got past that, I could see how different they were from each. The movies seemed to drag on while the books flew by, and I just didn't see the same humor Harry shared with his friends. The movies were more solemn, and so therefore I just didn't enjoy them as much. Also, at the end of Deathly Hallows part 2, Voldemort dies as a supernatural being rather than the normal way a person dies in Rowling's books. I think he was supposed to die as a human to show that he was not better than anyone else.

Divergent. While not many people really enjoy these books, I in fact did (except not Insurgent... too much fighting between the main couple and it has middle book syndrome and I didn't like the ending of Allegiant). I only watched the fist movie, and it seemed so rushed and in a lot of scenes I found myself thinking "that didn't happen...". So, overall, the book was much better than this movie.

I hope you like this list! Please remember that these are just my opinions and if there is any you would like me to add, please let me know @thebookshelfgirls on Facebook. Please subscribe to our blog and get notified when we have new posts!
